The other day, I saw a note of expiration dates of emergency foods and noticed that some are already expired. They looked and smelled okay, so we ate them. We bought new items and marked on a calendar about the closest expiration date of food. We've decided to buy a new one when the day comes close, consume the old one , check the conditions of the other foods and take a note of the next closest expiration date. How about you? Do you have emergency food prepared at home? Since I have experienced the earthquakes in Kumamoto in 2016, I know how important it is to have goods and food for emergency. Do we need to have some special items? How much of what items do we need to prepare? To be honest, the more is the better. But I understand that we have to consider the space in our home for those things. We for example, have one bag of emergency goods at home and another one in our car. They are from different makers. As for food, we have the followings near the entrance. See the photo.
Cooked rice you can eat by heating up in microwave or hot water You can immediately eat the corn, tuna and seasoned chicken. No need to cook. You can easily find them at supermarkets. Canned bread can be found on the internet shops or in large supermarkets. The vacuum-sealed cooked rice in the photo is just one of many types in supermarkets. The point is that you need to choose products that you can eat with a very few steps of cooking or without cooking and products that last long. Basically canned foods last for over a year. Vacuum-sealed cooked rice last at least a half year. There are other foods that are good as emergency foods. I will let you know when I write an article about it.

(English after each paragraph) Good evening, It's getting hot recently, eh? Fans are playing a great role in my house. This year the weather was a little chilly and then became early summer-like. I bought a spring jacket but wore it only once. It's only one week left until schools are reopened to students. I heard that each class will be shortened or/and homeroom classes are divided into some time sections each day. I'm sure kids are excited to finally see their friends and teachers.
The photo is of the pizza I baked for today's lunch. For the self-quarantine period, well even now, flour, pasta, dry yeast and many other products have been gone from stores because more people cooked at home. I myself baked bread and sweets once in a while before the self-quarantine period so I was surprised to see that those products are suddenly unavailable. I had bread flour but no dry yeast. Luckily a friend of mine gave me some that she had, so I baked pizza today! I guess the fact that more people bought those ingredients means more people are now better at cooking? Good evening!
There haven's been any report of people infected by corona virus for more than 10 days in Kumamoto prefecture. This doesn't mean that we are no more in danger, but we have more freedom now that the state of emergency has been lifted. Last weekend I went out to eat at a restaurant, which I did for the first time after 1.5 months! I enjoyed the meal a lot. Let's keep taking the measures (wearing a mask, washing hands, gurgles, etc.) to prevent corona virus from spreading! So, what did you do when you couldn't go out freely? As I wrote before, my work didn't change much. But I enjoyed reading books that I borrowed on Kumamoto city e-library, playing board games online and gardening. Also, this is what I did before we were asked to refrain from going out. I took level check tests online for my German and Polish. (The photos above are the results) My German is at B1 level (in CEFR, B1 and B2 are intermediate levels. B1 is the first half) and my Polish is also considered to be at the intermediate level. Yay. I was relieved to see the results, but I try to watch videos or read articles in these languages sometimes not to totally forget. What do you do not to forget what you have learned?

Good afternoon. The golden week started in the middle of this week. How are you spending the holiday? I think many of you have more free time. I myself work as usual, since my lessons are held regardless of holidays. Well, I have a little less classes due to the new corona virus situation, but I'm okay. Now that you cannot go out freely, why don't you make a goal for your golden week and study for it? I will try to make more Japanese materials in the holiday week, though I work normally as mentioned earlier. Actually, I have uploaded some Japanese learning materials on this website since a month or two ago. There are only a few yet and the levels of the materials are different. (Has any of you noticed yet?) Learning materials I hope they are used as supplemental materials for your study - kanji, grammar, etc. So, my goal for Golden week, or the whole May, is to upload more materials on the page. |
