Good evening! Last year I introduced some food for summer. Today I'll introduce two more vegetables. It's called "the King of vegetables" as it has a lot of nutrition. Rich in vitamins. When you cut it, slimy juice comes out from the cut surface. It is good for a stomach which lost the internal barrier. Jew's mallow contains a lot of calcium (9 times as much as spinach has). If you want to take the calcium effectively, eat it with food that has vitamin D, for example mushrooms. It's also good to make soup with finely chopped jew's mallow. Note: Do not cut it before boiling because nutrition would come out. Boil first, then cut if you do not use the water for boiling afterwards. A vegetable eaten in Japan since more than a thousand years ago. Its smell and taste are a little similar to ginger, but it's not as spicy as ginger. The component of the smell is called alpha pinene, which promotes appetite and digestion. It is good to be eaten raw, so I recommend that you chop or slice it and put on soumen noodles or tofu, or put on miso soup just before you eat it.
