I have been busier recently and I get tired in the end of the day... However! I wasn't just doing lessons. I went to supermarkets with my student to show food for vegetarians and also I did some research on healthy products at some supermarkets. I'll post on the content "Tips" as "food products for vegans in Japan" and "Safe food", so please check them out. Earlier this month, I found this article on free paper in Kumamoto city and thoght I should share it with you. These are marks with our beloved character Kumamon on environment and organic concerned products. The most right one is for products by farmers who are trying to reduce chemical fertilizer and agricultural chemicals. The levels of environment concern differ, depending on how much chemicals they reduced from old cultivation. The most left one is for organic products that are grown without chemicals for 2 years and more.
I'll omit the details, but you can remember that the greener the mark is, the more concerned the farmers are for cultivating their products. I know that basically organic products are more expensive than the other products, so I can't afford to buy those organic products always. But when I find those for discounted prices because they are left at market (that's a little sad, though), I prefer buying them to buying regular vegetables on sale. Some days ago I bought a bag of turnips marked with the clover in full green (the one on the most left in the pic). I saw the skin was eaten all over by worms or something, but I think it's a good sign that the soil is healthy for animals, too.
