Hi everyone. Today I'm going to teach you two ways of using "sappari." 1. This salad has a flavor of lemon and tastes refreshing. I feel refreshed after taking a shower. Tea after a meal makes my mouth clear. For taste, さっぱり is often used with flavor of lemon, mint, vinegar, etc. 2. (With a negated verb) Not at all This problem is so difficult that I don't understand it at all. It is raining heavily and there have not been customers. The use of さっぱり in use 2 and 全然 are not interchangeable. Basically, さっぱり is used for something that is expected to happen but doesn't happen. As さっぱり does not go with every verb, I recommend that you memorize sets of さっぱり and a verb that you have seen. In the first example, understanding is your ability and not what you control, so using さっぱり is okay. Here are a couple of sets of さっぱり and a verb. さっぱりわからない (not understand at all) (他の誰かが)さっぱり来ない (not come) (機械などが)さっぱり動かない (not work/move at all) (探しているものが)さっぱり見つからない (not be found)
