(English below)
Just recently, I noticed something interesting. I have known the words, but never paid attention to them. In Japanese, we have two different words for "corner", 角 Kado and 隅 Sumi. We use them differently depending on the perspective. If you see the "corner" from outside (no matter if the object has space inside it), it's 角. If the "corner" is IN a closed space, it's 隅. Ex 1. Hitotsume no kado o migi ni magatte kudasai. Please turn right at the first corner. Ex 2. Beddo no kado ni ashi o butsuketa. I hit my foot on a corner of the bed. Ex 3. Heya no sumi ni ranpu ga aru. There is a lamp at the corner of the room. Ex 4. He always has lunch at the corner of the classroom. My husband told me that they use the same word for "corner" in his language. If you know any language that has two different words, please let me know!
